Full training of employees to work with the system

2023-01-10

Implementation of a new inventory and assortment management system in the company

Implementing a new system is almost always a challenge for the company, for the normal work rhythm of employees. As the implementation of IT systems usually takes a long time, it requires the involvement of the company’s employees, training, and transition time when working with the new system.

Why is this a challenge?

The implementation of a new system has its own initial and main goal for which it is being implemented. However, the first change must take place in the heads of managers and employees who will use the new system.
Employees must have created their own unique ways of doing work, and are accustomed to working in the old way. So working with the new system will require changes and definitely extra time during implementation. For this reason, the implementation of a new system, along with the enthusiasm and joy of acquiring new knowledge and experience, is accompanied by a natural resistance to the changes that are coming.

Smooth system implementation is the most direct way to achieve goals. And?

We have been implementing the StockM system in companies for more than 15 years, and from the very beginning, understanding the significant impact of inventory and assortment management system implementation on the company’s day-to-day operations and how the smooth implementation quickly brings the company to its goals, we pay close attention to the implementation process. Today, we have almost no questions from employees of companies that have a StockM inventory and assortment management system in place. This is a very high assessment because it is important for us as implementers to fully prepare company’s employees to work with the system.

Full training of employees to work with the system

Many will probably agree with the statement that the main goal of implementing the system is to achieve the results:

  • improve the turnover of stored stocks
  • reduce the shortage of essential goods
  • optimize storage space
  • reduce employee time costs

And with all these important goals that the StockM system allows to achieve, there is always another unspoken goal – to fully prepare employees to work with the system. Because it depends on how quickly the company’s goals will be achieved and how successfully they will be managed.

A consistent flow of information forms the right habits

Throughout the implementation of the system, we organize training on each topic one by one to avoid information overload and distract them from the usual tasks they need to perform. Gradually providing information with examples has great benefits in assimilating knowledge and applying it to the workplace. This is very important in the long run when working with the system.
Our goal is to form the right inventory management habits that, even after the implementation of the system, would allow the company to successfully manage inventory and assortment independently.
Throughout the project implementation period, according to the established implementation schedule, our project manager works nearby, who answers questions and monitors and advises the company’s employees on the performance of inventory management tasks.

Full training of employees to work with the system

One of the most common statements we hear about installing IT systems is that they have installed and left employees to work on their own, as they understand it. We are happy to refute this statement with the examples of our clients – full preparation and training of employees to work with the system is a long-term basis for a successful StockM inventory and assortment management system.
